Project Details

The first wall was built to stabilise the edge of an access track and pond area, addressing issues related to erosion and water management. The second wall functioned as the outlet structure for the Ruakura Inland Port stormwater system, playing a crucial role in controlling water flow and preventing flooding.

The team at Schick civil construction were required to complete extensive dewatering works due to the high-water table and soft soil conditions. The Schick team installed temporary cofferdams and de watering equipment to create a dry work environment and utilised powerful pumps to manage groundwater levels effectively. Surrounding the walls with large riprap added further stability and protection against erosion.

The construction process involved meticulous planning and precise execution of technical formwork and concrete pours. Advanced formwork techniques ensured accurate shapes and alignments, enhancing the structural integrity and durability of the walls. These measures ensured that the structures could withstand harsh environmental conditions over the long term.

Expertise in Action

Our team brought extensive experience to this project. Planning, logistics and communication was essential to keep everything on track. The team excelled in all areas, ensuring strong and durable structures. Dewatering was a significant challenge, but combined with Schick civil constructions expertise in this area, ensured it was handled efficiently.

Operating excavators and bobcats in an efficient manner and managing large retaining structures were key components of the project. Working around fluctuating water levels required meticulous planning and execution, and our team was up to the task.

Josh Ireland and Jed Keir led the project, bringing their extensive knowledge and leadership. Trent Frank and Brandon Brisco handled the technical aspects of the build, concrete pours and form work. Eru Keir and Matt Munce managed excavator and bobcat operations. Each member played a crucial role in the project’s success.

Conclusion

This project showcased our team's ability to handle complex tasks with precision and efficiency. We're proud of the work we've done and the expertise we bring to every project. At KLS, we are committed to delivering top-quality results, no matter the challenge.

Stay tuned for more updates on our exciting projects!
